  why im disgusted.

  the new bible (no, it doesnt have a new name, for all who are asking) is a huge f**king monstrosity!

  the annual meeting seems to boil down to an opening talk about an "exciting new" bible museum and a closing talk about an "exciting new" new world translation.

  sandwiched in between were the wt summary, a talk about indoctrinating the children fast/furious, and some "trip down memory lane.".

  why would this "spiritual feast" seem to be anticlimactic?

  Hey DNCall! I hope things are going well with y'all.

  Well, their previous "refinements" involved reducing the lengths of the meetings, reducing the quatities and sizes of their publications, and producing an outstandingly blah songbook. Time now for a dumbed down NWT to clarify that "those urinating against the wall" means "men." Given that their "refinement" at the Annual Meeting last year was all about giving greater importance to the GB, I think we can expect that trend to continue. They seem to have mentioned it during that meeting that the GB was very involved in this "translation"... although none of them are scholars in any way, shape, or form.

  It's all about rearranging the deck chairs on the WT Titanic.

  in talking to sparky the elder today (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/263862/1/an-elder-called-me-hes-waking-up-and-knew-id-understand-nice-for-him-to-have-a-friend) i found out he did the accounts for our congregation for years.

  he said very rarely did the congregation meet its expenses without some well-off brother chipping in a few grand here and there.

  the elders would also make up the shortfall.

  Welcome SyntaxError!

  When I was in Bethel, I saw a lot of terrible decisions that were very expensive. Yeah, WT was bringing in lots of money, but much was wasted through mismanagement. That trend continues. And as long as they aren't required to have a public accounting, it won't happen. WT is quick to audit every congregation, circuit, and branch, but NOBODY is allowed to check the books at headquarters.

  "The timely spiritual food we receive is proof that Jesus, the Head of the congregation, is keeping his promise to feed us.... That faithful slave is the channel through which Jesus is feeding his true followers in this time of the end."

  That means that Jesus is the false prophet behind all the WT prophecies that have proven to be failures. What kind of food is that? It's just more authoritarian garbage that the GB is shoving down the throats of the sheeple. I'm so glad I don't have to sit through these "studies" anymore.

  "The bum witnesses phrase is the real story here, combine with the prodigal drama/DVD and they're clearly going harder on the idea that bad associations does not just mean worldlings."

  Indeed. That's all part of the "high control group" recipe. Phrases like that are intended to get the "bums" in line. Real life doesn't usually end like in the WT DVD stories. From the last of my experiences it became an increasing climate of friction and judgmentalism with continuing conflict and feuds.

  And since all these reports leaked out during the program, right after they stated not to put notes out to the public, they will continue to focus on the "disobedient sheep" that are in the congregation.

  "Is the Watchtower essentially admitting that their translation was difficult to understand?"

  I wouldn't be surprised if it is more a matter of them reworking the translation so that it says what they want it to say.
